About Our Reviews

Reviewing cellulite treatments isn’t easy.

To do it properly and in a meaningful way you need to get a lot of ladies all with cellulite, ask them to follow a course of treatment on one leg for anywhere between a few days and a month or two and then somehow measure the result. However, there’s no strict way of measuring cellulite, so many rely on what simply appears best and asking the tester what their opinion of the product’s performance is, which isn’t a particularly scientific way of measuring anything. Even big companies can get this wrong. When Marks and Spencer used this method of asking women if they felt their cellulite pants worked and cited their positive responses as proof, they came under heavy criticism.

So when it came to trying to decide how we should present far and accurate reviews of the products on the market, we had to think carefully. Skin care products, especially for cellulite, are expensive and we want to try and present a fair and balanced opinion of the products that our users may be interested in. We don’t want to say categorically whether or not a product ‘works’ because, in our experience, improvements in the appearance of cellulite are rarely down to a single thing. So we decided that we would offer a ‘meta-review’ service.

What’s a ‘Meta-Review’?

A ‘Meta-Review’ is an aggregate of many reviews, designed to give an overall picture.

One of our favourite websites is Rotten Tomatoes. Rotten Tomatoes is a meta-review site and it takes reviews of films from hundreds of trusted sources, decides if the review is generally positive or negative and then assigns a score to each film based on the percentage of positive reviews. Each film is then described as ‘Fresh’ or ‘Rotten’, depending on whether the score is greater than 50%. A film that scores over 80% is labeled as ‘Recommended’ and it’s generally a good bet that it’s worth watching.

We love Rotten Tomatoes because it removes the individual tastes and preferences that you get when reading a single review and instead presents you with a much more comprehensive view of the film. You know it’s a much safer bet when hundreds of reviewers are raving about the latest blockbuster.

Cellulite.co.uk’s Meta Reviews

Unfortunately cellulite creams don’t generally have an army of critics following them in the same way that Hollywood does, and as such obtaining genuinely impartial and authoritative reviews isn’t so easy. However, there are plenty of places where ordinary people like to review products, as well as blogs, the occasional newspaper article and even in videos on Youtube and this where we’ll source our opinions. The key thing is that we will take a broad spread, report the negative opinions with the positive and only report opinions we believe to be impartial- if we detect any hint of ulterior motive in the review, we won’t include it.
