Painful Cellulite

One of the reasons that cellulite was for so long largely ignored by the medical profession was because it was seen as a purely cosmetic condition, a concern for the cosmetic and beauty industry rather than ‘serious’ scientists. Yet it is an unfortunate fact that for some women, cellulite isn’t ‘just’ a cosmetic problem- cellulite can be a painful condition and sometimes excruciatingly so.

The simple reason for this is that occasionally the fat deposits within the skin that form cellulite can be very closely bunched together, trapping the nerves and causing pain. This condition usually occurs in ‘stage 4′ cellulite, when the lumps are clearly defined and isolated, and so may also be the most difficult to reduce and it’s typically at this stage when treatment is most often sought. This sensitivity, and possible pain, serves as a good warning to those of us who haven’t yet reached the most advanced forms of cellulite to reduce and tackle the problem now.

The good news is that cellulite, and particularly advanced cellulite that causes sensitivity and pain, are now being acknowledged by the medical profession- although of course no medical cure exists that isn’t already available on the market. If you suffer from particularly painful cellulite therefore, your best bet would be to consult a doctor with a view to easing the pain, and look to the treatments recommended on this site to reduce your cellulite as much as possible. It may also be possible that a doctor is able to provide additional anti-swelling or other treatment that could accelerate this process.
